Karate classes in Austin Texas

So who is this guy? Well, he’s the:

Founder of American Karate.

The Martial Artist who introduced Bruce Lee to the world

He taught Elvis Presley Karate – and some of those cool moves he had.

Instructor of Brian Duffy, Austin martial arts pioneer and one of America’s best martial artists and Instructors.

Lucky guy Steve Doss, who due to Mr. Duffy, got to meet and train with Grandmaster Parker on several occasions.

At Premier Martial Art’s children’s Karate classes in Austin, Texas we break boards. Here’s a few reasons why:

It’s fun!

It builds mental Focus.

Your child will gain some Confidence that they may not have had before.

It can measure your technique’s effectiveness.

Did I mention it was fun?!

and . . . . it makes for some great pictures!!

This past Friday evening at Premier Martial Arts, 35 new Junior students and a few of their friends took part in a “White Belt Buddy Bash.” A lot of kids left very excited with their broken board.

As many parents said to us upon leaving, “That was a fantastic class!”

OK now, we’ve covered four of the real benefits of martial arts / karate training / and kickboxing in Austin at our martial arts school.

SELF-DEFENSE SKILLS for Teens & Adults – Karate classes for kids

PHYSICAL FITNESS $ PHYSICAL CONDITIONING

SELF-DISCIPLINE AND A NON-QUITTING SPIRIT

CONCENTRATION & ATTENTION SPAN

Here are three more:

WEIGHT CONTROL

SELF-CONFIDENCE

STRESS RELIEF / RELIEVE TENSION

Physically, we all want to be in good physical shape. Martial Arts may be the best overall method to being all-around fit. Many however confuse the relationship between exercise and health. Just because you’re physically fit, do Muay Thai Boxing, can run like an antelope, and are strong as an ox, doesn’t mean you’re healthy on the inside.

We all know this (I hope). Remember Jim Fixx? He was the guy that wrote the best selling book “The Complete Book of Running.” He was given credit for starting the Running revolution and millions followed his lead. He had a heart attack at only 52 years of age. Very unfortunate and avoidable.

Being fit doesn’t mean you are healthy.

On a personal note, I set a goal this year to eat healthy and get fully checked out and repaired in 2011.

I got the full medical, blood test, and health evaluation and am glad I did. I also fixed that pesky eye I haven’t been able to see out of since my competitive fighting days. Sad to say it took this long to get around to it. It was an eye opening experience! (pun intended!)

Health – Wealth – and Happiness. You can be neither wealthy or happy if you’re sick and unhealthy. We have been offering our Impact MMA Fitness members a free scan to see how each member’s body’s immune system is working. It has been very well received. Ask one of our staff members for a scan. There is no charge if you’re a member or parent at Premier

Having good relationships with the people most important to us is valued by all. We all want to feel good – physically, mentally, and spiritually

To receive all these benefits and more, call (512) 447-5425 and ask for a free trial lesson.

"Focus your mind, my friend!"

As we outlined in Parts 1 and 2, Premier Martial Arts-Austin will teach you solid self-defense skills, while you get in great shape. There’s more though – you’ll benefit more from our MMA classes than you ever imagined.

The built in structure of our martial arts classes and training helps put you in the mental state of being totally focused. Just as Bruce Lee said “Focus your mind my friend!,” the built in structure in our children’s karate classes teaches them useful skills for school and for their future. Teens and adults progress rapidly when they really “get into it.” Focus and structure is the magic ingredient for success in the martial arts.

#3 SELF-DISCIPLINE / NON-QUITTING SPIRIT

A. We develop it in a 3-step process

1. Understanding it – mat chat discussions and stories teach kids the meaning and benefit of having self-discipline and a non-qitting spirit.

2. Using it – during classes wen a situation or obstacle comes up, te instructor helps them through it until they start to use it themselves and begin to achieve.

3. Applying it – once they successfully develop a non-qutting spirit in the school they begin to use it outside the school in everything they do!

B. Self-discipline is the key to success – without it you cannot succeed.

#4 CONCENTRATION / ATTENTION SPAN

A. These are essential skills necesary to learn rapidly.

B. Students learn to focus on one thing (Concentration) for increasingly longer periods of time (Attention Span)

C. Minimize distractions through a disciplined atmosphere.

D. Skill can be applied in school, sports, and work.

“I’m sure enjoying the classes! It isn’t get easier; I’m just getting better!” -Bryan Escobar

A. Premier Martial Arts-Austin is a mixed martial arts system, hybrid style that incorporates the techniques and concepts of Kickboxing, Krav Maga, Kali, and Submission Grappling.

Kickboxing – Muay Thai Austin -modern applications of strikes, blocks and kicks, instructs the highest form of stand up fighting

Israeli Krav Maga – Israel military streetwise self-defense system gives students ability to defend themselves regardless of how they might be attacked.

Arnis – Instruction of offense and defense of realistic stick and knife fighting.

Submission Grappling / BJJ – Incorporates releases from grabs and holds as well as ground defense

B. Build your Confidence and Self Esteem at Premier Martial Arts-Austin

Statistics have shown that people who know how to defend themselves usually don’t have to since they carry themselves in a more confident manner.

When students are not physically intimidated by others, they become more self-confident.

Most other styles of martial arts, boxing and kickboxing schools usually focus on just one or two of these areas of self-defense. Combining techniques from these four disciplines s what makes Premier Maartial Arts a mixed martial arts system, or hybrid style. That gives Premier Martial Art-Austin students knowledge and techniques they need to defend themselves in virtually any situation.

2. FITNESS / PHYSICAL CONDITIONING AT PREMIER MARTIAL ARTS-AUSTIN

Premier Martial Arts-Austin trains the practitioner in all three important areas of physical conditioning: muscular development, cardiovascular conditioning, and flexibility.

Muscular Developent – increases strength and muscle toning

Cardiovascular Conditioning – increases stamina and overall energy

Flexibility – increase circulation, muscular lengthening and decreases chances of injury

The Round Kick

It is the most widely used technique in Muay Thai Kick Boxing. It is said this technique symbolized Thai Boxing. Veteran boxers call it the “King of all Kicks.” According to Rodney Solis, a Premier Martial Arts Muay Thai Austin trainer, the tool is the whole shin and instep. The shin is used for kicking into the body, while the instep is used for kicks into the head and neck.

Here’s how to do it: The kicking foot starts suddenly from the fighting stance , with simultaneous rotation of the hips and body. The supporting leg must be completely stretched at the moment of impact, while body weight is on the tiptoes and ball of the foot. Head and body are protected by the arms. Full turn is practiced in the manner of shadow boxing, while the foot is returned the same way when practicing on the kicking bag. The round kick differs from those in other kicking martial arts like our Austin Karate classes at Premier or Tae Kwon Do.

They are executed with the swing of the whole body, and not only with the snap of the lower leg below the knee. The power of such a kick is sometimes so strong that it cannot be stopped even with a double arm block. It is the most powerful kick in Thai Boxing and can be used for an attack on any part of the body. The targets are especially brutal when they connect to the inner and outer part of the thigh, both inevitable techniques of Thai boxers.

Premier Martial Arts had the privilege of teaching 600 sharp, enthusiastic, and bright kids at Bridge Point Elementary.

The Premier Instructors were very impressed by the children’s spirited attitude, which says a lot about their teachers and parents.

Children were divided into two separate classes of 45 minutes each. The Bridge Point Assistant Teachers were very helpful in lining up and managing the children, and the event was very well received by all the “Karate Kids.”

The children began by learning, practicing, and demonstrating the martial arts skills of Respect, Focus, and Concentration.

They then moved on to personal-defense against Bullies. Master Instructor Steve Doss taught the childen blocking skills, a wrist escape, and even how to stand and what to say to a bully if they are ever confronted by one – “Back off, leave me alone!”

We want to thank those children who showed the courage to volunteer and demonstrate up on the stage in front of their entire class with their new found skills.

We especially want to thank Principal Wirht and Melissa Levine, and the Bridge Point Booster Club for inviting us to such a great school.

After such as awesome performance by over 200 students who moved up in rank at the Fall Belt Graduation Ceremonies, how can we match that for October?

Well – - – - Premier’s mixed martial arts-Austin classes for October will hold some excellent training and even a few surprises! Boxing training and conditioning, Muay Thai kickboxing, some really effective Self-defense training, and even a “Field Trip” training at the Impact Martial Arts Austin Gym.

We work hard with the goal of offering you the Top Self-defense classes-Austin, TX.

The Drill for Skill for October will be SPEED – that means you’ll learn of several variations of speed, which are important to your proficiency in the martial arts. Remember, your end of month curriculum test will be based on this Drill for Skill. This month’s stripe will be White.

We will also be holding a White Belt Buddy Bash for all children that are new members in August, September, or October. Bring a friend and you will get to break a real board!

We won’t be holding a Halloween Party this year, but we know of an amazing Haunted House that one of our Black Belt’s parents hold each year. Ask one of the Instructors for a map if you’d like to go.
